We have a group of artists to do this magic artwork for you;they have studied this art work since they were teenagers , most of them are sculptors, normally they need to learn over 3 years working as apprentices under their Masters. If she doesnt work hard and is not serious-minded during her learning term, the Master will not let her etch the complicated images on the granite for the customer, especially the persons eyes, smiles and expressions. These parts of the picture are carefully etched one by one with a sharp pointed adamantine chisel. It takes thousands of chisels to complete an image of a photograph. If one error occurs, the whole piece of work will have to be destroyed.

The process for a complete etching: First, the original picture is proportioned to fit the size of stone that has been selected. Second, a pencil and red carbon paper are used to sketch a copy of the photo on to the granite.  Then they sketch the images outline on the granite.  They start to etch the image according to the outline until the whole image is full of sharp pointed chisels that are well regulated and proportioned. The dark area will be etched with a small chisel while bright areas are etched with more chisels.

How to Clean the Surface: Please keep the stone image away from heavy grease, oil or dirt.

To clean the granite you should use a degreasing solvent. All solvents will leave behind a slight film; therefore, final cleaning should be with a mixture of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol to obtain best results. Wipe dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.

The completed etching is normally black and white.  These two colors have a very distinct etched brightness and darkness.  The contrast that is created is an identical likeness to the original picture. This is a creation of magic transformed into artwork.  Stone images are a good gift for any holiday or celebration.  They will never change and can be treasured as an heirloom.  From the samples in our store, we know our artists are qualified to do this magical artwork. Our artists are authentic and do an amazing job using their skill and talent. 

Normally our artists do not put their names on the corner of the etching surface, they are afraid it will affect the etching.  However, if you would like them to sign the etching please ask at the time of ordering.

To order, please leave your favorite picture to us.  We can do images of animals, flowers, birds, buildings, landscapes, and personal photos of any

kind of image you may choose at the artists discretion.  We will need a clear photographic image to create the etching.  If the picture is too small and unclear the artist can not create a clear etching.  If you do not have a photo with you, we can take a digital photo free of charge.  We would like to have a 24 hour notice to complete your etching.  If you need express service, our artists can complete the etching in about 5 hours or one day.  Internet and mail services are available.   Please ask for details.
